“An elegant afternoon tea leaving you wanting to back time and time again.”
Many moons ago (well before this post), my girlfriend took me to her favourite spot for afternoon tea. She claims it's the best afternoon tea she's ever had. Having tried other high/afternoon teas prior to this post, I was a bit reluctant to go. Just to clear up, it wasn't because I didn't trust her judgement, it was more because I'm a bit of a skeptic when I hear the words "best _______ ever". But I suppose I needed to give it a go and make my own mind about it.
It was so good, I decided to go a 2nd time and post about it!
Two Tier Heritage Afternoon Tea Stand
I leave my favourites last so I start off with a savoury number - Smoked Salmon Triple Stack with Caper Berries
Double Smoked Ham with Cheese and Cucumber in Tomato Bread
Slow Cooked Chicken and Pickled Bell Peppers in a Spinach Toast Roll
Crispy Green Salad and Ocean Prawn Boat w/Crostini and Lime
On to the sweets! Crunchy Profiteroles w/Dark Belgium-Chocolate Cream Filling
Classic Vanilla Crème Brûlée with a Sweet Nutty Biscotti
Glazed Caramel Mousse w/Fresh Berries and Raspberry Gel
What Lexxie Says: Well, I can truly say that The Westin, Sydney is also my favourite spot for afternoon tea. I definitely see myself coming back here for an elegant afternoon tea (as evidently so, having visit again after 3 days). If the Heritage Afternoon Tea itself doesn't fill you up, then the unlimited amount of tea they generously let you have will help.
The Heritage Afternoon Tea menu didn't feel heavy and was just the right amount of food to eat. Both savoury and sweet went well together and balanced out perfectly. If anything, I felt the Slow Cooked Chicken and Double Smoked Ham sandwich was your typical run-of-the-mill-type sandwich. But both were very flavoursome and filling.
In terms of stand out dishes, the Smoked Salmon Triple Stack with Caper Berries was devine. Though the Crispy Green Salad and Ocean Prawn Boat w/Crostini and Lime Dressing gets a shout out.
As for sweets, my number 1 favourite was the Glazed Caramel Mousse w/Fresh Berries and Raspberry Gel and then a close second was the Classic Vanilla Crème Brûlée with a Sweet Nutty Biscotti.
This is an elegant afternoon tea leaving you wanting to go back time and time again. Highly recommend the Heritage Afternoon Tea at The Westin, Sydney.
