Milkshakes at Pâtissez Café, Canberra

Updated: May 17, 2021

Date attended: 4 October 2015 Style: All-Day Café Cuisine: Modern Café, Patisserie What to look out for: They are well known for their ‘Freakshow’ milkshakes; particularly their Muddy Pât shake with soy milk which is a personal favourite of mine, however my friends really loved the Nutty Pât

“Yes, the shakes look extravagantly rich. Yes, the shakes look like they are too much for one person alone. And yes, the shakes look like they go straight to the thighs. But you know what? They are AMAZING!”

Canberra has been placed on the map yet again, all thanks to the previous 2015 My Kitchen Rules Canberra mother/daughter team Gina and Anna Petridis. They’ve opened their over-the-top patisserie café, Pâtissez (pronounced “Pat-is-say“). Since its inception earlier this year, Pâtissez has become a point of interest in our Nation’s capital and is quickly becoming a buzz word with the foodies thanks to their “Freakshow” milkshakes.

As my friends and I were planning a roadtrip to Canberra for the Floriade festival and re-live our childhood feels, I managed to convince my friends to swing by Pâtissez first when we get to Canberra, just to check out these shakes. Thinking that it was overrated from the get go, these thoughts were quickly shot down the moment we got our orders.

*my friend was lactose intolerant so we substituted the full cream milk to soy milk. It was deliciously smooth and didn’t feel overwhelming despite the name and description. Would highly recommend ordering it with soy milk.

What Lexxie Says: Yes, the shakes look extravagantly rich. Yes, the shakes look like they are too much for one person alone. And yes, the shakes look like they go straight to the thighs. But you know what? They are AMAZING! This satisfied my ‘milkshake, cake, brownie, cookies and fudge’ craving, all in one hit. It was delicious, and it will most certainly go straight to my thighs. I was quite disappointed that their Red Velvet shake wasn’t available that day as we would’ve ordered that too.

I can tell you that the Muddy Pât with soy milk alternative was an absolute treat and when I go back, I’ll be getting the same thing along with other things I haven’t tried on the menu.

Totally recommend; it is definitely worth having again!
